Imagine Canada Holiday Campaign

The 9th annual Imagine Canada campaign exploring Canadians’ holiday giving intentions closed out 2022 on a cautionary note. Backed by a research poll conducted by Ignite Lab, it was found that inflation, surging demand and falling donations combined would create a perfect storm for Canada’s 170,000-plus charities and nonprofits. Also found was that fewer than half of Canadian adults (48%) intended to donate compared to 56% in 2021 and among those who planned to donate over the holidays, 38% indicated giving less. Media across the country shared provincial findings through interviews with Imagine Canada spokespeople, warning that the substantial drop in holiday season donations posed a major threat to millions of Canadians reliant on charitable services.
